Notes

Medium sized tree to 25 m and 40 cm Ø with a straigt stem and vertically furrowed, blackish bark. Slash ± similar to a Cordia slash (see Cordia). Obovate big leaves, to 30 cm long and 15 cm wide, leathery, finely pubescent beneath with appressed, stiff white hairs. Fruit hard, laterally flattened, ellipsoid, about 3 cm wide and 2 cm thick. Rare tree in Ivory Coast, recently found close to Greenville in Liberia. See also PROTA database.
