Can grow into a tall canopy tree up to 100 cm Ø, with an open, spreading crown that appears yellowish. Bole straight and slightly fluted or buttressed; bark reddish brown and corky, finely fissured on old trees but smooth in younger specimens. Slash soft and fibrous with an outer pink layer and a yellowish-white inner layer, quickly turning brown. Leaves simple, altrnate, with intra-petiolar stiules and with two faint “false” nerves curving parallel to the midrib. Tree resembles Petersianthus but the slash (and the leaves) are diagnostic.
