Notes

Small tree or shrub of the rain forests of Liberia to Ghana, ? 10 m high and 10 cm Ø. Leaves up to 11-jugate often with a hispid petiole and rachis, the lower pair often close to the twig; leaflets papery, often narrowly oblong-elliptic, with long hairs on the main nerves beneath, the midrib impressed and hispid above. Flowers relatively large, dark red. Fruit sub-ovoid, 2 – 2.5 x 1 – 1.5 cm, dark red, sparsely hispid, glabrescent. Syn.: Trichoscypha atropurpurea.
