Notes

Fairly common understory tree of the rainforest, to 20 m tall, characterized by its stringy-fibrous, bright yellow slash and yellow wood. Bark layered, easily pulled off in strips. Older specimens with narrow, ascending butt-flares. Fruits in dense bundles of long-stalked carpels, first red, later black, shiny. Leaves 7 – 25 x 2 – 7, very short petiole. See also PROTA database. Syn.: Enantia polycarpa.
