Notes

Small tree in moister forests, to 10 m. Slash very stringy fibrous, very peelable, ginger-coloured, with strong, sweet and black pepper smell. Leaves (often) slightly cordate. Calyx 4-parted, thick, green outside, yellowish within; stamens in a dense mass, brownish. Fruit carpels sessile on a ± 6.5 cm long stipe, up to 4.5 cm long, constricted between the seeds. Blade with about 10 laterals, looping well within the margin. Syn.: Uvariopsis globiflora.
