Notes

Tree of evergreen and swampy semi-deciduous forest, to 30 m high and 100 cm Ø. The tree somewhat resembles Parinari excelsa but has only narrow, low buttresses; the yellowish bark is covered with lenticels; slash hard and granular, pink-red on the buttresses, dark red on the bole, moist, exuding a yellowish exudate turning red. Leaves simple, alternate, with a pair of glands near de the base. Fruits ovoid, 3.5 x 2.5 cm, glabrous. See also PROTA database.
