Notes

One of the larger Diospyros species, up to 27 m tall, with a long, slender bole, fluted at base or sometimes with small buttresses. Bark rough, exfoliating in large scales; slash black outside, yellow or orange inside; sapwood white or pinkish; heartwood often black. Ripe fruit dull crimson. Tree of the semi-deciduous forest, collected in Nimba.
