Small, very hairy understory tree, up to 15 cm Ø, also in secondary bush. Tortuous, low-branched stem with drooping branches. Venation between the nerves fairly wide scalariform; stipules laciniate. Slash red and fibrous. There are two varieties: A. l. var. laciniatum, densely hairy with short hairs, and A. l. var. membranaceum with long hairs and more laciniate stipules.
