Can grow into a fairly large tree of 25 m and 60 cm. Ø; crown with short, regular horizontal branches; bark rough; slash characteristic, with alternating strips of reddish and white. Leaf simple, alternate, with short petiole, entire blade with 7 – 8 pairs of laterals, looping away from the margin; margin entire. Fruits ellipsoid, 3.5 x 2 cm, orange when ripe, at the tip with remnants of the stigmata, containing one pointed, 6-ribbed nut of 3 x 1.5 cm. See also PROTA database. Syn.: Casearia bridelioides.
