Notes

A small tree to 7 m. in disturbed forest and steep slopes, often in the dense understory, with low stilt roots and short spines on the stem. Leaves simple, alternate, often glaucous beneath. Finer venation distinctly scalariform. About 13 – 17 pairs of curved laterals that do not reach a marginal nerve.
