Shrub or small tree to 10 m, rainforest, rare. Twigs sharply 2 – 4 angled, or wide at the nodes. Bark scaly, orange; slash exuding a white latex. The twigs look similar to those of Napoleonaea alata, green and winged, but have opposite leaves, Napoleonaea alata has alternate leaves. Leaves simple, opposite, numerous parrallel laterals, ascending resin ducts poorly visible. Syn.: Garcinia granulata, but perhaps G. granulata is a distinct species.
