A riparian species, whose leaves resemble those of Tetraberlinia but the tip of the leaflets is retuse – emarginate, and leaflets may be much bigger. Intrapetiolar stipules! Leaves pari-pinnate with 3 – 5 juga; nearly sessile ± rhombic leaflets, asymmetric at base, with 1 or 2 stronger basal nerves; midrib diagonal. Straight, not buttressed bole; slash red and hard fibrous. Pod with a single raised line. See also PROTA database.
