A big tree to 60 cm Ø of swamps and bottom lands close to rivers, reported from Liberia Voorhoeve 293) but also present in Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, and Ghana. It is characterized by its very large leaves with leaflets up to 50 cm long and 17 cm wide, and the very big pods reaching 55 x 17 cm in size, brown velutinous, with 3 lateral ridges. Leaf with large intrapetiolar stipules with kidney-shaped appendages; 2 – 4 juga; leaflets soft to the touch, the top pair largest. See also PROTA database.
