A small tree to 25 m, found on rocky sites in the northern regions of the country; reported as a medium sized tree from Sierra Leone; large trees were seen in the Nimba region. The difference with G. ehie is the medium petiole of ± 1 cm long but very short in G. ehie. Leaf bi-foliolate with falcate leaflets without basal nerves but about 5 pairs of laterals. Fruit a short thick pointed pod, rather smooth but looking very similar to those of Cynometra vogelii, that has similar but warted fruits. See also PROTA database.
