Crooked, low-branched tree with many low shoots, to 20 cm Ø; in understory of the high forest and in secondary forest. Slash orange-brown or contoured red and brown, darkening on exposure, exuding some brown latex. Fruits with many diagonal lines, very variable in shape. See also PROTA database.|Another, very similar Anthonotha species, A. pynaertii, common in Gabon and Congo, seems to be present in SW Ivory Coast and possibly Liberia as well. It is difficult to distinguish from A. macrophylla.
