Small tree to 10 m high and 60 cm Ø, without buttresses, mostly in open areas and in villages. Bark blackish, scaly. Leaves pari-pinnate; leaflets (sub)opposite, in 8 – 12 pairs. Long inflorescences with yellow flowers. Fruits hanging “sausages” of about 70 cm long and 2 – 3 cm thick, round with a longitudinal ridge, divided in two longitudinal sections of 2 rows of seeds, each section with numerous cells, each containing one seed. Fruits remaining on the tree for a long time.
