Notes

A small to medium sized tree not usually exceeding 20 m in height and 50 cm Ø, similar in habit to A. adianthifolia but crown narrower. Straight bole with dark grey bark with a green inner layer, often with vertical rows of lenticels. Leaves compound, bipinnate; leaflets opposite; leaflets ± sessile, falcate; gland on petiole; green layer in slash. The leaves resemble those of Newtonia aubrevillei, which has no gland on the petiole. The last pair of leaflets is distinctly falcate. See also PROTA database.
