Notes

Tree of dry forest or savanna but frequently planted along roads, with spectacular masses of purplish flowers. Leaves imparipinnate, 3 – 4 jugate, lacking stipels, the leaflets ± ovate with rather rounded apex; midrib with fringe of pale hairs alongside near the base. Fruit a flat, smooth pod, to 16 cm long.
