Notes

Usually a shrub or small tree but occasionally to 20 m tall and 40 cm Ø, in wet places in coastal forest but also in the dry forest types, gallery forests and savannas. Bark smooth; slash many layered with gritty streaks, yellow to brown, with red to black spots or lines of exudate, spongy. Leaves imparipinnate, 3 – 4 jugate; young buds covered with a yellow pubescence; rachis reddish pubescent; stipels absent; venation ± scalariform. Flowers silvery yellow. Fruit a flat pod of about 12 cm long, slightly contracted between the seeds, with 2 – 5 seeds, poisonous (?).
