Small understory or riparian tree. Slash yellow-orange, fibrous, peelable, slightly gritty, often with darker inner bark due to reddish or brown exudate. Leaves 5 – 8 jugate, imparipinnate, with small and thin leaflets, to 1.2 cm wide, and a slender rachis. Stipels present as 2 mm long, small triangles; rachis very grooved. Fruit a pod of ± 10 – 12 x 2 cm, yellow when ripe, flat.
