Liberia (likely to occur)
Medium-sized tree of the moist semi-deciduous forest in Ivory Coast and Nigeria, and recently recorded from Liberia (Nimba), to 30 m high and 70 cm Ø. Base with low and blunt buttresses. Bark grey or reddish, rough and scaly; slash pale pink or yellowish white, rapidly turning (reddish)brown on exposure, fibrous, faintly scented, sometimes exuding some cream-coloured, tacky latex from near the cambium. Leaves impari-pinnate. Fruit 3-chambered, stalked, slightly 3-lobed, 1.5 – 2.5 cm across, densely covered with a pale brown indumentum. Seeds 1 or 2 in each chamber, black, partly covered with a orange-red aril.
