Voorhoeve 285 (WAG)
A widely spread forest tree to 30 m tall and 40 cm Ø, with a straight, cylindrical base and grayish, smooth or slightly scaly bark, peeling off in plates. Older trees may have small buttresses. Slash creamy pink, about 1 cm thick, slowly exuding a little creamy or yellowish latex. Leaf pari-pinnate with opposite leaflets with soft orange hairs beneath. Fruit a 3-chambered, sub-globose, stalked capsule of 2.5 – 3 cm across, pinkish-purple or purplish red, velutinous; seeds 2 in each chamber, dark brown or blackish, for the larger part covered with an orange-red aril.
