Notes

Tree very similar to M. regia but the leaves different: M. regia has 6 – 10 pairs of laterals and an open fine reticulation; M. excelsa (10-) 14 – 18 pairs of laterals and a very fine indumentum between the veins. M. excelsa is a tree of the semi deciduous forest. Both species mingle in the transition from rainforest into drier forest. See also PROTA database. Syn.: Chlorophora excelsa.
