Notes
Can grow into an emergent tree to 40 m and 120 cm Ø; base with heavy root swellings, sometimes extending in heavy, extending surface roots. Twigs slightly flattened or winged, especially below the nodes. Bark thick, smooth or finely scaly, often with numerous lenticels. Slash hard and granular, brittle, pale brown with a white cambium layer; it may make a rustling sound and collects a little clear sap. Leaves simple, alternate, venation obscure. Fruits partly covered by a greenish nap. Tree looks somewhat like Cassipourea nialatou. See also PROTA database.
