Notes
A fairly common understory tree, occasionally reaching 25 m and 75 cm Ø; straight bole with well developed buttresses. The bark has an extremely hot taste: “pepper stick”. Seems to colonize small forest gaps. A much smaller species is D. chevalieri, with a more symmetric base. See also PROTA database.
