Notes

Shrub or small tree, reaching a diameter of 30 cm; lowland swamps, near rivers, and mountain forest (Mt. Nimba). Stipules forming a tube of about 1 cm, with or without filaments. Hairs in the axils of laterals, tuft domatia (?). Often near water. A poorly known species is G. liberiensis with much narrower leaves; it has stipulres froming a collar and distinct tuft domatia; leaves about 10 cm long (?). See also PROTA database.
