Notes

A gregarious, fairly soft-wooded tree of swampy areas in the evergreen and deciduous forest zone; can grow into a tree of 35 m and 100 cm Ø. Slash thick, soft, fibrous-granular, pink turning brown; often with “knee roots” (pneumatophores). Leaves big, simple, opposite, broadly ovate or nearly round; interpetiolar stipules type 4; nerves ± scalariform. See also PROTA database. Syn.: Hallea ciliata/Mitragyna ciliata
