Notes

Small treelet of forest understory and coastal thickets; twigs with sharp spines in the leaf axils, to 5 cm long; leaves alternate, simple or trifoliolate; petiole short – medium; petiolules very short; blade with finely serrated margin and translucent points. If only some of the leaves are trifoliolate, check Afraegle paniculata. Fruits globular, about 6 – 9 cm across.
