Notes

A fairly small tree, mostly in secondary forests, to 80 cm Ø, with a smooth bark with horizontal rows of sharp thorns, also on branches and twigs; slash thin, fibrous, with vertical streaks, aromatic, dirty white/brownish, discoloring. Branches with small thorns. Leaves pinnate with (sub)opposite – alternate leaflets, in dense clusters; leaflets with a tiny pouch on one side of the petiolule, asymmetric at base, with a recurved margin; margin not dented but scalloped with undeep incisions; tip blunt-emarginate. Fruits in panicles shorter than the leaves, each fruit a 4 – 5 mm round capsule. Syn.: Fagara parvifoliola.
