Notes

A small, tortuous tree often near rivers or in waterlogged areas in higher elevations or galery forests; reported from Nimba at 475 m; leaves mostly 3-jugate, with the first pair being very small and very close to the twig, “pseudo stipules”; tip of the leaflets rounded, not mucronate; rachis velvety; blade with translucent spots or microscopic orange-brown glands, and 6 – 13 pairs of laterals. Fruit a rounded capsule of about 2.5 cm, slightly triangular, hairy when young, bright orange when ripe, containing 3 shiny black seeds with a red aril.
