Notes

Common shrub or small tree, to 10 m high and 20 cm Ø, or even medium-sized tree with a spreading crown, in secondary forests in the semi-deciduous forest zone and in gallery forests; often with many adventitious shoots from low on the bole. Slash brittle, contoured, orange brown. Leaves with 4 – 7 pairs of sub-opposite or alternate leaflets, petiolules normally swollen and conspicuously orange or yellow hairy; rachis often ending in a short point. Fruits ellipsoid or sub globular, to 18 x 12 mm, tomentose with soft ginger hairs, containing 1 or 2 seeds embedded in a gelatinous aril.
