Notes

Tree species scattered in the rainforest and semi-deciduous forest or even savannas, but also planted as a shade tree, to 25 high. Bark grey, smooth; slash thick, pale yellowish-brown, granular, hard, with orange gritty streaks. Wood very hard, bright yellow-orange. Young twigs reddish tomentose; young leaves velutinous below. Leaves 3 – 5 pairs of opposite leaflets, the first pair very close to the twig; leaflets with 8 – 12 pairs of laterals. Fruits 5 – 10 cm long, mostly glabrous, with 3 rounded lobes, reddish/yellow.
