Notes

Usually a small tree of the semi-deciduous forest, but to 20 tall and 50 cm Ø, often fluted at base, but no buttresses; bark smooth grey – yellow, with many small lenticels; slash thin, crumbly, mottled brown and white. Flushes of new leaves ± white. Leaves with 1 – 4 pairs of opposite leaflets, the first pair very close to the twig and not exactly opposite, smaller than the others; rachis very short; leaflets often with tuft domatia, and ± 10 pairs of laterals; margin entire. Fruits small, about 2.5 cm long, with 3 sharp ridges, slightly hairy. See also PROTA database.
