Notes
Can grow into a very big tree, to 50 m tall; rare, found in the wet evergreen forest of Liberia and SW Ivory Coast. Base with heavy root swellings or large buttresses. Bark scaly with longitudinal fissures; slash thin, brown outside, white inside, mottled orange, exuding white latex. Leaf clustered at end of branchlets, with a petiole of 3 – 6 cm, rounded or emarginate top (but acute in shade leaves). Fruits globular, about 8 cm across, bright red, often 1-seeded in a thick pulp. Syn.: Kantou guereensis.
