Notes
Very large tree of the drier semi deciduous forest, to 40 m tall and 100 cm Ø (or more?). Base of the tree with very large buttresses; bark light grayish, with longitudinal folds; slash pale yellow – pink, exuding only a little latex. Leaves smaller than those of P. alnifolia, 8 – 15 x 4 – 6 cm, with ± 15 pairs of laterals that reach the margin, with conspicuous long orange hairs on the laterals; venation ± scalariform. Fruits olive-shaped, containing 1 seed. See also PROTA database.
