Notes
Tree resembling P. altissima but found more in the transition zone between rainforest and semi deciduous forest. Very well-developed buttresses; light bark with longitudinal folds; slash with a little bit of latex. Leaves with 15 – 20 pairs of laterals, conspicuous when fresh because of the pink or orange-coloured hairs on the laterals. Globular fruits of 1.5 – 2 cm across, ending in a small point, reddish when ripe, finely tomentose, containing one seed. See also PROTA database. Syn.: Aningueria robusta.
