Notes

A medium-sized cauliflorous, little branched tree, to 20 m. Slash whitish, turning brown. Flowers deep red; the edible fruits (bush bananas) grow in clusters on the stem, with red seeds. Leaves mostly digitate, with very long petiole, to 75 cm and long leaflets, up to 80 cm; leaflets entire, oblanceolate, the laterals widely spaced; stellate hairs sparse. See also PROTA database.
