Medium sized tree of dry, rocky inland forests. Leaves simple, alternate, heart-shaped, with a long petiole; blade with 5 – 7 basal nerves curving back into the cordate lobes. Stellate hairs may be present. Young trees with whorled boughs; older trees with a smooth, greenish, lenticellate bark; slash spongy, white, with vertical bands and a strong smell. Not yet recorded from Liberia.
