Notes

Tall tree to 30 m high and 100 cm Ø, mostly in the transition zone between rainforest and semi deciduous forest. Stem yellowish grey, with thin bark scales; slash pale white with yellow-orange spots under a thin green outer layer; with a distinctive smell. Leaves simple, alternate, reddish brown beneath with stellate hairs. Blade 6 – 14 x 5 – 8 cm, with 10 – 15 pairs of laterals. Tuft domatia in the nerve axils. Big oblong free woody carpels of 10 – 15 cm, containing numerous seeds. See also PROTA database.
