Notes
A medium-sized tree to 35 m high and 80 cm Ø, with a low, twisted and fluted stem, the flares angled sideways. Slash pale red-brown and brown contoured, fibrous and brittle, turning dark on exposure, with a distinct smell of vegetables; white sapwood turning yellow or reddish. Leaf 8 – 30 cm long, ovate – obovate, with 5 – 6 pairs of laterals, 3-nerved at base, with stellate hairs beneath. Young twigs very white hairy with stellate hairs. Fruit a globular capsule of about 4 cm long, with 6 pronounced ridges, yellowish green (slightly resembling the fruits of Protomegabaria). See also PROTA database. Syn.: Duboscia viridiflora.
