Notes

Thorny shrub of the northern edge of the forest zone but also in savannas. The bole and branches are armed with stout spines up to 2 cm long. Stipules enclosing the terminal bud, leaving an annular scar at the nodes. Tip of the leaf with a short extension of the midrib, ‘aristate’. Fruit a small drupe of about 9 mm, with the remnants of two styles at the top. Syn.: Chaetacme madagascariensis
