Notes

Canopy tree of the drier semi-deciduous forests, to 35 m tall; bole yellowish or silvery, with low triangular buttresses; young branches densely rusty pubescent. Leaves entire or a bit dentate along the upper edge, asymmetric and 3-nerved at base, +2 – 4 pairs of laterals; rusty pubescent beneath, venation strongly scalariform. Slash with concentric yellow and brown rings, quickly turning very dark on exposure. Leaves entire, but margin serrate on saplings. Fruit a 6 mm globose drupe, terminated by the remnants of the style. See also PROTA database.
