Notes

Shrub or small understory tree to 4 m high, with obovate papery leaves with a long petiole; venation scalariform. Leaves simple, alternate, petiole normal/long, to 5 cm; margin dentate/serrate; blade oblong/obovate, venation often more yellowish than lamina, ± 10 pairs of laterals; venation may seem ± scalariform but on close inspection is not. Note: there are many Rinorea species, difficult to separate without flowers.
