Notes
In the forest it has a straight and cylindrical bole; in drier situations the bole is short, fluted, and twisted. Bark light grayish-brown, fissured and flaky, with a pale green under bark. Slash hard and thick, yellowish brown, granular/gritty outside, more brittle-fibrous inside. Leaves with 4 – 12 alternate to subopposite leaflets, the lower pair suborbicular, with an obtusely acute tip; leaflets with hairy domatia; petiole flattened above. Fruits a 1 – 2 seeded black drupe of about 2 cm long, mucronate with a persistent style, edible but resinous.
